Performance Engineer (IC3)

Our Performance Engineering Team is growing and we're looking for a data-oriented Junior Performance Engineer to join the team.  You will work closely with O&M teams on projects across MASE’s asset portfolio across the MENA region. 

As Performance Engineer you will be responsible for monitoring, reporting and analyzing the power production of our portfolio of operational plants, reporting faults and supporting our O&M teams in troubleshooting and addressing any suboptimal performance.  Furthermore, you will be involved in developing new methods and tools for analyzing production and ensuring that production losses at our plants are minimized and develop new maintenance practices that contributes to maximizing production while reducing maintenance costs.

Your main tasks & responsibilities are:

1.    Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of performance issues affecting MASE’s operational plants; 

2.    Analyze production discrepancies and document impact on overall performance. Where production improvement potential is identified, coordinate with the relevant team to initiate and execute process for improvement;

3.    Analyze production data for quality issues and address gaps to ensure sufficient data quality for further analysis;

4.    Develop new tools, scripts and processes for addressing deficiencies in existing systems and methods for power production analysis, with a particular focus on analysis functionality in our Solar Asset Management platform;

5.    Promptly identify and report production faults;

6.    Create and maintain fault logs for MASE’s operational assets, analyze the impact of faults on production;

7.    Monitor and report KPIs as required;

8.    Design and implement automated reporting to support recurring activities of the business;

9.    Build reports and dashboards to help O&M and other segments access performance and other operations data;

10.    Assist in the development of short, medium and long-term production forecasts for operational plants;

11.    For plants under development or under construction, support together with EPC and Project Development, participate in preparing of the Energy Yield reports used in financial modelling and performance guaranty and bonus negotiations;

12.    Support the Asset Management in their external production-related reporting to external stakeholders (e.g. to the Board, Shareholders, Lenders and their advisors, regulators and utility).


Skillset:

The position requires that the you demonstrate the following skillset:

Professional

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably within Renewable Energy, Electrical Power Engineering, Automation, Information Systems or similar;
  • Experience within the areas of Electrical Power Production (preferably Renewables Energy), Automation, Information Systems, preferably including experience from forecasting and analysis of (renewable) power production processes;
  • Preferably experience and background from the power production sector in general, or specifically from solar power or other renewable generation;
  • Experience with programming and analysis in Excel, Python or similar, experience with working with large data-sets and databases;
  • Experience with data mining techniques and application of statistical principles is an advantage;
  • Fluent in Arabic and English, spoken and written (and other languages if needed or ideal).
